So this is a tripartite blog. The Patriots are really pissing me off. They were so awful tonight against the Jets. It was hard to watch. And yet, they could have won the game. They messed up three plays, one by Givens, one by Brady, one by Brown. If they hadn't blown those plays they would have been in pretty good shape. So I'm not sure what to think of them overall. They absolutely need to beat the Dolphins next week to make the playoffs. Every time they play a good team this year they lose, and they are playing horribly, which makes me think they'll lose this one. On the other hand, the Dolphins almost always collapse in December, the Patriots have home-field advantage, and I have confidence in Belichick to get the team ready to compete. So it'll definitely be interesting.
Onto the next part of the blog. I don't have anything in particular to say, just a few links really. Two on foreign policy, one on Lott. This one covers US policy in the Middle East, while this one is from a columnist I have recently become a fan of, Charley Reese. The last is from Harry Browne, and it basically trashes Harry Truman.
Lastly, I saw The Two Towers on Saturday. It was pretty great. Some people don't like fantasy-type movies, which is fine. My guess is that they feel like they're for kids or something, but I don't know. Anyway, if you're not like that, you should definitely see it. I think it was better than The Fellowship of the Ring, which is unusual for the middle installment of a trilogy. The message about the evils of power, and how it will corrupt anyone and everyone, are very apt to our times. Basically, no one is uncorruptible, but there is also the message that no one is hopeless. Plus it really entertaining. It's a fucking brilliant movie.
