The conference championships are today. Last week was a disaster for me, going 1-3 against the spread, making me 3-5 overall. Bleh. Here are my worthless picks for today's games:
Tampa Bay Buccaneers are at Philadelphia, Eagles favored by 4. Tampa Bay looked great last week, and their defense is always great. I'm still unsure about Brad Johnson, and their runnng game is poor. Philly also looked very good last week, with McNabb playing well despite the long layoff he had, but I don't know if they have enough good receivers. We will probably be able to identify one or two plays which will be the difference in this game, or playing in The (awful) Vet will be a huge home-field advantage.
EAGLES 16, Bucs 10
Tennessee Titans are at Oakland, Raiders favored by 8. Oakland is a very good team, with no big weakness. Great O-line, great receivers, good runners, very good quarterback, good D-line, good secondary, good special teams. Tennessee's running back is half the player he used to be, their QB is banged-up, their star defensive player will only play about half the game, and they seem to let the other team stay in games longer than a good team should. And the game is in Oakland. Combine all that, it does look kind of like a blowout is in the cards. So I'm going with the Costanza Theory, wherein if every instinct tells you to go one way, you go the other.
