I'm getting tired of people saying that the anti-war protesters are anti-American. It really is a bunch of bullshit, but it's also irrelevant. Let's stipulate that a large portion on the protesters are anti-American; does that make attacking a country which has never threatened us right? Let's stipulate that a large portion are communists; is it ok to murder thousands, if not millions, of innocents to save face? Let's stipulate that a large percentage are idiots who really don't know anything and are just marching because their friend is; is it now ok to take out our vengeance for what happened on September 11th on a people who had nothing to do with that tragedy? Let's suppose that every single person who is against this coming 'war' is a stupid, America-hating, communist coward who doesn't deserve the time of day. Does that change anything about the idiocy of the attack?
I'll tell you what's really anti-American. It's making us the aggressors in a conflict. It's lying brazenly to try to drum up support for military action. It's trying to scare people into doing whatever you tell them will make them safer to increase your power. It's violating the US Constitution. It's making up reasons to disallow peaceful protests, and intimidating those who show up anyway with force and snipers. And it's also making lists of countries who can do no wrong and who can do no right, kind of the definition of Washington's alliances, I'd say.
The pro-war crowd equates criticizing 'our' government with being anti-American. Excuse me? When exactly did the government become the country? If you really believe that you can't love this country and hate what the government has done and is doing, you have revealed your true self. Apparently, you believe that we all belong to the government and live to serve the beast, rather than that it exists to serve us.
